Nombre:Ian Keaveny
Texto:' Perfection is terrible, it cannot have children. Cold as snow breath, it tamps the womb' – Sylvia Plath My work now is about the imperfect, the broken image that happens when you take a soldering iron and screwdriver to a Digital camera and short circuit the ccd, soldering points to tease out the images that are lurking beyond the edge of the program

Born 1967 in Birmingham, England, grew up on overspill council estate in Droitwich, Worcestershire. Foundation at Bromsgrove college, 1987-1988, taught by Steve Payne whose teaching has guided me ever since. Degree at Winchester school of art, BA Hons Fine art painting/printmaking, graduated 1991. Got a job with a bank, then ran away to Europe after a drunken telephone call with a girl who had a van, got back to England late 1992, squatted a house in Essex to write a book that came to me in a dream somewhere in Spain, book was never published, became a new age traveller. Left England in 1992 to join a commune in Ireland. That fell apart, moved to a farm to set up another commune in 1994, painted there continuously from 94 to 98, one exhibition at the courthouse, Cavan, commune fell apart, leaving me and then partner with baby daughter and four children to find house, at this point I mistakenly gave up painting and went and got a job to support us. Managed Bicycle shop in Athlone Co. Westmeath until 2003, started painting again after two year hiatus in 2000. Left Ireland for Wales, worked in outside education project (Ecodysgu, based in Tondu, South Wales) and Bridgend youth service for most of 2003, moved back to Ireland 2004, new job with craft company Heartworks, made redundant at end of 2008, decided to paint full time, three solo exhibitions in Ireland 2010, one in 2012 now working on new work.
Throughout all of that I've kept painting, adding video as a medium since 2007. My work from college until now has switched between abstraction and almost academic realism, but always with a commitment to the medium of paint.
